END-TO-END ENCRYPTED COMMUNICATION
Sending information and documents electronically, in particular by e-mail, is associated with risks. In particular, it cannot be ruled out that third parties may gain access to the data, gain knowledge of it and alter it or that data may be falsified, incomplete, delayed or not received by the recipient at all. In addition, despite the use of security systems, electronic messages sent may contain viruses and other components that could disrupt or damage another computer system.
The law firm SNP Schlawien Partnerschaft mbB Rechtsanwälte Steuerberater sends e-mails transport-encrypted by default (SSL/TLS encryption). In order to receive such emails, the recipient must also have SSL/TLS encryption activated. Transport encryption is basically point-to-point encryption: the content is encrypted during transmission between the sender and their email provider, between two email providers and between the email provider and recipient (as in the analogue world with an envelope). However, the email is decrypted by the email provider, e.g. to check the email for spam, viruses or metadata or for categorisation. The e-mails are therefore protected on the Internet, but are not encrypted on the client computers and e-mail servers.

With end-to-end encryption, the individual paths in the sending channel are not encrypted as with transport encryption, but each email is encrypted from start to finish. However, it should be noted that security gaps have also become known in end-to-end encryption and that such emails can only be read on mobile devices to a very limited extent.
