Munich, August 6, 2024 | The Federal Ministry of Housing, Urban Development and Building (BMWSB) plans to make residential construction simpler, faster and more efficient in the future. This goal is to be achieved through the cooperation of a broad alliance of federal and state representatives and practitioners. This includes contributions from SNP partner and certified specialist in building and architects’ law, Dr. A. Olrik Vogel, in the “Guideline and process recommendation for building type E“. This is in addition to preparatory work for the associated adaptation of construction contract law by the Federal Ministry of Justice.
The guideline contains recommendations on how agreements on lower construction standards that are not necessary for the quality and safety of buildings can be made with the greatest possible legal certainty. With this targeted and user-oriented application of building standards, innovations and individual solutions for climate- and resource-friendly, needs-based and cost-effective construction should be made possible in the future.
In order to strengthen building type E by law, the Federal Ministry of Justice drafted a bill to amend the German Civil Code (BGB) for internal approval at the end of June. The draft bill is expected to be passed by the cabinet in the fall of 2024. According to the Federal Building Ministry, the law is expected to come into force from the beginning of 2025.
