Christof Blauß

I have been advising credit institutions on almost all banking law issues for around 30 years. My clients include, in particular, Volksbanken and Raiffeisenbanken, private banks, building societies, but also specialised financing institutions, which I advise on the structuring of complex loan commitments and related collateral agreements and pool agreements. In the case of non-performing exposures, I support my clients in particular in the judicial enforcement of their claims and the realisation of loan collateral. My activities also include the defence of claims for damages against credit institutions, e.g. arising from advisor liability in the context of brokered investment products, as well as the handling of banking supervisory law issues. Following the introduction of the title ‘Certified specialist in banking and capital market law’ in 2008, I was one of the first professionals in Germany to be authorised to use this specialist lawyer title.

Corporate law and property law have a large number of issues that are closely related to banking and capital markets law, particularly in the case of corporate or real estate transactions (mergers and acquisitions). My long-standing clients in these areas of law include not only financial institutions but also a number of well-known companies from a wide range of sectors, particularly the property industry.

I have also been working for insurance companies for many years, mainly in a forensic capacity.

I have been fascinated by Spain and Latin America since my early youth. It was therefore natural for me to establish professional contacts in these countries, especially with local lawyers. Together with these colleagues, I advise German and European companies on their business activities in South and Central America, as well as clients from these countries in Germany. From 2004 to 2012, I was honorary Secretary General of the German-Latin American Lawyers’ Association TRIANA e.V.

The best place for me to relax at any time of year is in the Montafon mountains, doing outdoor activities such as hiking, e-biking or skiing in winter. The only thing that usually gets me out of my funk is VfB Stuttgart, whose matches I have been cheering on since my early youth.
